LA LIGA CHAMPIONS 04/05 TEAM PACK

The 2004-05 season saw Barcelona end a six year wait to once again being crowned La Liga champions, finishing 4 points ahead of arch rivals Real Madrid.

Victor Valdes is joined in the pack by the central defensive partnership of club captain Carles Puyol and Rafael Marquez, with both figures being in away kit, as Marquez was released in home kit as part of Series 28 Demon Defenders and Puyol was in Series 25, another example of Corinthian doing all they could to avoid releasing the same figures in another format.

 

 

Argentine full back Juliano Belletti was released for the second time, however his initial release was as part of the Del Mundo Deportivo promotion, so this gave collectors a much easier way to add him to their collections. The back line is completed by a new sculpt of Giovanni Van Brocnkhorst, who we have seen before in the ProStars range but this was an all new sculpt of the Dutch left back.

 

 

Xavi was beginning to establish himself as a true great of the game, this was the very first release of the Spaniard, a truly excellent sculpt and the only other time it would be released would be as part of Series 37.

 

 

Edmilson was another first time sculpt however unlike Xavi, he would never again be released by Corinthian, making this figure highly sought after, especially by collectors in Brazil. Ludovic Giuly and Deco complete the midfield line up.

 

 

Barcelona had a truly mesmerising attacking trio of Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o and Henrik Larsson, with Ronaldinho and Larsson appearing in the eye catching third kit, reason being both had already featured in the home kit as part of Series 29 Stars of the Season 2004/05.

 

 

Corinthian released the Barcelona La Liga Champions 04/05 Celebration Pack on the 24th of October 2005, with just 2005 packs being produced and having a retail price of £45. Each pack contained 12 figures, 12 collector cards, an individually numbered certificate of authenticity and coming with a free platinum pack, with each platinum pack coming with an individually numbered collector card from 001-167, these packs are very rare and highly sought after.
