UK MEMBERSHIP 2006

Corinthian continued with the 2 tiered membership they implemented in 2005, with the 2 levels once again being SuperStars and Legends. The 2006 Prostars Collectors Club was launched on the 3rd of April 2006.

The SuperStars membership was now free and as a result it did not come with any figures but did allow members access to other benefits, such as free product when placing orders with Corinthian direct.

​

 

The Legends membership cost £30 and came with 8 exclusive figures, all of which were new sculpts and none would be released again by Corinthian.

​

 

Eric Cantona was released for the first and only time as a ProStars figure, which is hard to believe given the amount of Manchester United figures which feature in the ProStars range. Cantona did of course feature for United in the FAPL Collection, as good as the 'Collar Up' sculpt of King Eric is, I personally feel this new sculpt of him in France kit is the best version Corinthian produced and is a figure very much sought after by collectors today, with many obtaining it purely for repaint purposes.

Rudi Voller is in Germany home kit, his second release as he featured in the Club Gold World Greats Set N for Roma, however this was an entirely different sculpt. The same can be said for Marcelo Salas, he featured in ProStars Series 4, but this is a brand new and vastly improved sculpt of the Chilean forward, although the sculpt is far better, I do still personally prefer the series 4 version.

The other 5 players were all first time sculpts and had never been released by Corinthian before, nor would they appear in the ProStars range again, those 5 being Preben Elkjaer for Denmark, Rudi Krol for Holland, Leopoldo Luque for Argentina, Lev Yashin for USSR and Andoni Zubizarreta for Spain.

 

 

All 5 are excellent sculpts and have really appreciated in value since their initial release, that is especially the case with goal keeper Lev Yashin, he can rival like likes of Zico and Di Stefano when it comes to price on the secondary market.

All 8 were released in a Club Gold World Greats window box, on a Gold base and coming with collector card.
