LIVERPOOL
TREBLE CUP WINNERS TEAM PACK
McALLISTER VERSION
The 2000/01 season saw Liverpool complete a historic cup treble, winning the Worthington Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup!

The 25th of February saw Liverpool beat Birmingham City in the Worthington Cup final, the game ended 1-1 with Liverpool emerging victorious from the penalty shoot out 5-4, this was the very first final played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, which was the very first final played at the stadium while Wembley was being re built.
Liverpool returned to Cardiff on the 12th of May to play Arsenal in the FA Cup final, 2 late goals from Michael Owen gave them a 2-1 victory over the Gunners. The treble was completed on the 16th May at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, Germany, with the game being an absolute cracker, with the teams tied at 4-4 at 90 minutes, it took an own goal in extra tome to give Liverpool the win.
To commemorate this historic achievement Corinthian produced a Liverpool 12 figure team pack, with the pack containing the starting 11 from the UEFA Cup final, plus Robbie Fowler who came on during the game and also scored in the match. The line up for the pack is Sander Westerveld, Sami Hyypia, Stephane Henchoz, Jamie Carragher, Markus Babbel, Gary McAllister, Danny Murphy, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Emile Heskey, Michael Owen and Dietmar Hamann.
10 of the figures are all in Liverpool 2000/01 home kit, the 2 in away kit are Sami Hyypia and Michael Owen, the away kit s the one worn for the FA Cup final. The reason for them being in away kit is that both had already featured in home kits, as part of Series 11 and 12 respectively, so this was Corinthian trying to give the collector something new as opposed to just repacking previously released figures.
Corinthian made 2001 team packs, each one coming with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity, being priced at £40 upon release and hitting the shelves before Christmas 2001. In addition to the team pack, Corinthian also released the figures in single window boxes, however Owen was not done as a single window box, he remained exclusive to the team pack.
Platinum Packs were also produced however they were not included with the team pack, they were given away free to collector club members for money spent with Corinthian Direct. Only 50 of each were made and they are almost impossible to find, so much so that i do not actually have an image of the Michael Owen Platinum Pack, so if any collector has one in their collection please do get in touch.
Due to contractual issues, Corinthian had to produce a second version of this pack ,which saw them remove McAllister from the pack and replace him with Jari Litmanen. This Litmanen figure is exactly the same as we saw released in Series 13, the PRO code of PRO466 is the same, however the version found in the team pack does have a team pack collector card, so that is a very nice variant to add that does go un noticed by some collectors. Litmanen was not released as a window box nor was a team pack platinum produced for him.
The version with Litmanen was sold in the UK, while the version with McAllister was sold overseas predominantly in the far east in countries such as Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. The window box of McAllister was produced to enable UK collectors to add this figure to their collections, as they were not permitted to sell the team pack version inside the UK.
