SERIES 6

Corinthians marketing team had a real dilemma when trying to finalise the line up for ProStars Series 6,with so many teams changing kits and sponsors at the end of the season, as well as all the usual transfer rumours meant making the selections even more difficult than usual.

ProStars Series 6 also known as 'Corinthian Classics' ended up being a 41 figure series all released in Window Boxes. There are only 6 unique figures in the line up, the others were all previously released, with 6 in Series 1 Secret Sachet, 8 from Series 2 Secret Sachet, then 7 each from the Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United 1999/2000 team packs.

For Celtic we have Regi Blinker and Alan Stubbs, both were first seen in the FAPL Collection for Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton Wanderers respectively, and were also released in the Club Gold Club Edition 2000 range, with these figures being unique to Series 6 and released in a Celtic coloured window box.

 

 

For Rangers we have Arthur Numan, Stefan Klos, Rod Wallace and Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, all 4 originally appeared in the Headliners range, as well as being in the Club Gold range inside the 4 pack. These 4 figures are all unique to Series 6 and were released inside a Rangers coloured window box, which actually had the banner 'Club Gold' on them.

 

 

The 6 figures from Series 1 Secret Sachet are Dwight Yorke, Leonardo, Fabien Barthez, Gabriel Batistuta, Roberto Baggio and Romario, while from Series 2 Secret Sachet the 8 included are Edgar Davids, Michael Owen, Cafu, Jaap Stam, Oliver Bierhoff, Christian Vieri, Youri Djorkaeff and Angelo Peruzzi.

 

 

From the Arsenal 1999/2000 team pack we have David Seaman, Tony Adams, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Ray Parlour, Nwankwo Kanu and Dennis Bergkamp.

From the Chelsea 1999/2000 team pack we have Albert Ferrer, Graeme Le Saux, Frank Leboeuf, Dennis Wise, Chris Sutton, Gianfranco Zola and manager Gianluca Vialli.

 

 

From the Newcastle United 1999/2000 team pack we have Shay Given, Nolberto Solano, Didier Domi, Gary Speed, Alan Shearer, Elana Marcelino and Robert Lee.

 

 

Corinthian did not state exactly how many of each were made but they did state that some were produced in as low as 500 pieces. The Classic Window Box had a generic barcode so it is impossible to determine if some are original as it is so easy to create your own classic window box by replacing the figure and the plastic tray.

ProStars Series 6 Window Boxes were available from the late February 2000, priced at £2.49 each, being available in newsagents such as Martin and R S McColl, as well as from the usual collector centres. Included in the window box was the figures collector card, one side has the figure image and the other has the player ratings, which you could fill in to create your own version of a top trumps style card game.
