SERIES 12

The initial plan for ProStars Series 11 was for it to be a 24 figure release, however Corinthian decided that might be hard on both collectors and stockists so the result was to split the range in half, 12 in Series 11 and the other 12 in Series 12.

This would be Corinthian's final series release of the 2000/01 season, we see Tony Adams in Arsenal home kit, the sculpt being the same as seen in Series 7 England Squad. Paul Merson makes his ProStars debut, the sculpt being the same as used in the FAPL Collection, he is released here in Aston Villa home kit, his only other ProStars release would be as the 2008 Convention special, however that would be an all new sculpt of the Magic man.

Chelsea have a duo release, with Eidur Gudjohnsen in home kit and new sculpt Mario Stanic in home kit, Corinthian would never again release a figure of Mario Stanic. One of the standout and best selling figures of this series is Leeds United's Australian forward Mark Viduka, a truly excellent sculpt and one which would be used for all future releases of the Aussie. 

 

 

Another top seller from this series was the first ever blister pack release of Sami Hyypia, he first appeared in Series 11 as one of the redemption figures, as did Andy Cole, who is released here in Manchester United home kit.

 

 

Shay Given gets his only ProStars blister release, here in Newcastle United home kit, the sculpt being the same as seen in the Newcastle United 1999-2000 team pack. Completing the line up from the English Premiership is Tottenham Hotspurs marauding full back Stephen Carr, which was the very first Corinthian release of the player.

 

 

Emmanuel Petit is released for Barcelona, the sculpt being the same as seen back in Series 2, while the only representative of Italy's Serie A is Giuseppe Signori in the home kit of Bologna, with the sculpt being the same as released for Lazio in the SuperStars range of Headliners, and collectors would have to wait until ProStars Classics Series 4 to see Signori released again.

 

 

Completing the line up is a first time sculpt of Celtic's Stilian Petrov, an excellent sculpt and although Corinthian would release Petrov again, this would be the only time they would use this sculpt, which is actually my favourite Petrov sculpt. Worth mentioning that the Celtic club store ordered in excess of 1,500 single blister packs of Petrov!

 

 

Corinthian produced 2 special redemption figures for this series, with Mario Stanic in Chelsea away kit and Mark Viduka in Leeds United. Corinthian produced just 1,000 of each redemption figure, making them instant collectors pieces.

 

 

Series 12 blister packs were available from collector centres from 4th May 2001, with blisters priced at £3 each and you could also order the figures from Corinthian Direct as figure and card in sachet for £2.49. Included in each pack was the figures collector card.

 

 

Along with the regular blister packs, Corinthian produced something special called the Platinum Pack, these were produced in much lower numbers and not available for direct sale, they were given away free for money spent with Corinthian Direct, however you could also buy them from official Corinthian Collector Centres. The figures are identical to those in the standard blister but are placed on a specially designed blister card.

 

 

Corinthian did not make public how many of each blister pack or platinum pack were produced, only to say that the best seller in the series was Andy Cole, and the ones made in the lowest volume were Merson, Given, Petit and Signori.
