ARSENAL
DOUBLE WINNERS TEAM PACK

The 2001-02 season saw Arsenal win the double, capturing the Premier League title by ending the season top on 87 points, 7 ahead of Liverpool in second place.

The second part of the achievement came on the 4th May 2002 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff as they took on London rivals Chelsea, a tense tactical game was undone when, as Tim Lovejoy famously said 'it's only Ray Parlour' thundered the ball past the despairing Cudicini in the Chelsea net to give Arsenal the lead, which was doubled just 10 minutes later as Fredrik Ljungberg sealed the win.

The 12 figures included in the pack all played a pivotal role during the season, we have goal keeper David Seaman, the sculpt being the same as we saw in Series 15. Ashley Cole and Sol Campbell are in 2001/02 away kit, having both previously featured in home kit during for Series 14, however the kits are different, as the figures included in the team pack have Red socks which were worn during the FA Cup final.

Tony Adams is in home kit, along with central defensive partner Martin Keown, as is Fredrik Ljungberg who also has the famous red streak through his hair which provoked red dye shortages throughout Cardiff and London in May, along with Ray Parlour with the sculpt being the same as used in the Arsenal 1999-00 season team pack.

Arsenal's French trio of Robert Pires, Patrick Vieira and Sylvain Wiltord are in the superb Gold away kit, while Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry in home kit complete the line up. Henry did feature in Series 17, however that version sees him with White socks and of course a different PRO collector code.

The Gold kit was worn during the title decider which took place at Old Trafford as Arsenal won 0-1 thanks to a goal from Sylvain Wiltord.

Corinthian produced just 2002 team packs, each one coming with the 12 figures, 12 collector cards, an individually numbered certificate of authenticity and each pack also came with a Platinum Pack, each one limited to just 167 pieces, making them highly sought after and collectible.

The Arsenal Double Winners Celebration Pack was released on August 26th 2002 with an original retail price of £45, it is a pack which has certainly held and even appreciated in value over the years.
