2004/2005 TEAM PACK

The 2004/05 Barclays Premiership season saw Chelsea emerge as champions, and set many a league record along the way. Chelsea were managed by the Special One Jose Mourinho, who proved he was not one of the bottle by leading his Chelsea side to their first league title in 50 years.

Mourinho's Chelsea made history by setting a record for most away wins in a season (15), most clean sheets kept in a season (25), fewest goals conceded away in a season (9), most wins in a season (29) and fewest goals conceded in a season (15) which was a truly remarkable achievement.

The team pack contained 12 players who were instrumental to the league win, starting with Czech keeper Petr Cech, the sculpt we saw first released in Series 29 Stars of the Season 2004/05, joined by his impenetrable back four of club captain John Terry, William Gallas, Ricardo Carvalho and Paulo Ferreira. This was the very first and in fact only ProStars release of Ferreira.

Chelsea's midfield was pinned by Claude Makelele, the creativity provided by Arjen Robben, Joe Cole and Damien Duff and the drive and craft of Frank Lampard, while the fire power was provided by Eidur Gudjohnsen and Didier Dorgba, who also appeared alongside Cech in Series 29.

Corinthian also produced the much anticipated figure of manager Jose Mourinho, he was not in the pack in the conventional sense, he was released in a clear sachet and placed inside the pack behind the figure tray, along with the Platinum Pack. The Mourinho was only found inside team packs purchased from the official Chelsea club shop, making him an instant collector's piece.

Corinthian did not make public how many packs were actually produced as the packs were not issued with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity but i have always estimated it to be around the 4,000 mark. The pack was released on the 5th of August 2005 and had an retail price of just £30.

Each pack came issued with a free platinum pack, these were the very first team pack Platinum's to feature individually numbered collector cards, with each one being numbered from 001 - 360 with the Platinum pack of Mourinho being in high demand.
