SERIES 29

STARS OF THE SEASON 2004/5

Corinthian once again took a retrospective look at the season and released Series 29 Stars Of The Season 2004/5, which compiled together 16 players who shone during the 2004/05 season.

The 2004/05 league campaign saw Barcelona win La Liga, finishing 4 points ahead of bitter rivals Real Madrid and they had their strike force to thank for that as we get our first ever ProStars figure of Samuel Eto'o who scored 25 league goals and only failed to appear in 1 league game all season. Corinthian made 7,473 blisters of the Cameroon icon.

The highest blister production goes to Ronaldinho in Barcelona home kit, the mercurial talent had a staggering 12,183 blisters produced which accounts for over 17% of the entire series run and was massively up on his debut figure in Series 29 which had a measly 3,281 blisters!

We have 5 figures from Italy's Serie A with league winners Juventus having Zlatan Ibrahimovic released in home kit, with 6,568 blisters, however as a fall out of the Calciopoli scandal, the old lady would be stripped of their title and in fact no club would be awarded the league title for this season.

AC Milan have 2 figures in the series, as we have an all new sculpt of Andriy Shevchenko and Dutch maestro Clarence Seedorf, with Shevchenko finding the net 17 times that season. Production wise we have 5,302 for Seedorf and 6,760 for Shevchenko.

The Blue half on Milan was represented by Adriano, here in Inter Milan home kit, who scored 16 league goals this season, with 6,034 blisters made which was around the same amount as his debut figure in Series 25.

Corinthian history was made when Valeri Bojinov was sculpted and released for Lecce as this was the first and indeed only Corinthian figure ever released for Lecce, with Bojinov's 11 goals that season helping Lecce to end the season in 11th, with 2,775 blisters produced.

The 2004/05 Premier League was won at a canter by Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, who romped to the title with 95 points, 12 ahead of Arsenal in second, losing just once all season! Didier Drogba was an instant hit following his transfer from Marseille, netting 10 league goals, with his being the first ProStars release and Corinthian made 3,499 blisters.

Another reason behind Chelsea's title win was the fact they only conceded 15 goals, largely due to their towering goal keeper Petr Cech, with Corinthian releasing him for the first time and making 3,322 blisters.

Second place Arsenal had a first time sculpt in Cesc Fabregas, with there being 3,315 blisters made and this sculpt would be used for all future releases of the assist machine.

Manchester United finished 3rd and a whopping 18 points behind winners Chelsea, fans could consoles themselves with an all new sculpt of Wayne Rooney, with Corinthian producing 4,777 of this new Wazza figure.

There was a new sculpt of Jermaine Jenas released in Newcastle United home kit, with just 1,688 blisters made, while Stewart Downing got his only regular ProStars figure, released in the Middlesbrough home kit with 2,183 blisters produced.

Lee Hendrie got a fresh sculpt from the one we first saw in the England 1999-2000 team pack, with him being in Aston Villa home kit with 1,691 blisters made. The remaining 2 were both first and only time releases, with Luis Boa Morte for Fulham being the lowest production in the series with 1,687 blisters, and Henrik Pedersen for Bolton Wanderers having 1,688.

In total Corinthian made 70,945 blisters for Series 29 Stars Of The Season 2004/5, which was over 12,000 higher than Series 28, with an average blister production of 4,434 per figure.

Corinthian produced 2 special redemption figures for Series 29 Stars Of The Season 2004/5, which are Ronaldinho for Barcelona and Adriano for Inter Milan, both in their respective club away kits. Collectors were able to directly purchase the redemption figures, which were priced at £5 and came in clear sachet with a non numbered collector card.

Series 29 Stars Of The Season 2004/5, was released at the 2005 Corinthian Convention which took place at Villa Park on the 11th & 12th of June, with blisters priced at £3 each and Corinthian also made the series available in a case assortment, which contained all 16 blisters plus the 2 redemption sachets and 1 platinum pack, with the case assortment costing £48.

Along with the regular blister packs, Corinthian produced something special called the Platinum Pack, these were produced in much lower numbers and not available for direct sale, they were given away free for money spent with Corinthian Direct. The figures are identical to those in the standard blister but are on a Silver base and assigned a PP (Platinum Pack) collector code, which was the same code as the PRO version, with the figure then placed on a specially designed Platinum Pack blister card, coming with an individually numbered collector card with just 360 of each being produced.
