SERIES 39
EURO 2008

The EURO 2008 tournament was edging closer, and Corinthian were once again prepared with a tournament themed release, as we see 12 players in their respective national home kit, included amongst them are 7 first time sculpts!

Eduardo Da Silva was Brazilian born but eligible to play for Croatia due to him making enough appearances in the Croatian league for Dinamo Zagreb. This is an excellent sculpt and the only time it would be released, with just 1,626 blisters made, with many collectors expecting an Arsenal club release would follow, however it never did.

For Portugal we have Nani, the sculpt the same as we have seen released for Manchester United, with there being 1,826 blisters produced. For Holland we have Robin Van Persie and Cesc Fabregas is in Spain kit, both are previously released sculpts and had 2,346 blisters released each.

Van Persie's Dutch team mate Rafael Van Der Vaart was released as a ProStars figure for the first and only time, a top sculpt and Corinthian made 2,256 blisters, however he can prove elusive due to demand for this popular player.

A name which i always dread spelling is Fabio Quagliarella, here released in Italy home kit, this would be his only Corinthian release, an excellent sculpt which had just 1,332 blisters made and is certainly one for the long term collector.

Almost impossible to pick a favourite from this series as i am constantly torn between 3, all of which are first and only time sculpts. The first of which is Lukas Podolski, always been a fan of the player and Corinthian produced a superb sculpt of the versatile forward, with there being just 1,566 blisters made. A figure which is seldom seen for sale and always in demand, mostly as collectors look to acquire one to repaint it into some Arsenal kit.

David Villa and Franck Ribery were two exceptional players and very much deserving of a Corinthian ProStars release, both would never be released again and their figures have always been in short supply and high demand, with just 2,456 blisters of each made and although that is the highest volume in this series it would prove to be insufficient.

The final new sculpt is that of Romanian defender Cristian Chivu, with just 1,326 blisters made, he would also feature in Series 40 for Inter Milan. Completing the line up are 2 repaints, we have Tomas Rosicky for Czech Republic with the sculpt being the same as seen in Series 35, with 1,826 blisters and with 1,326 blisters made is Stelios Giannakopoulos for Greece, the only other release of Stelios was in Series 24 where again he was in Greece home kit.

In total Corinthian made 22,408 blisters for ProStars Series 39 , which was 21 blisters lower than Series 38. The average blister production works out at 1,867 each.

Corinthian produced 2 special redemption figures for ProStars Series 39, which are Robin Van Persie for Holland and Franck Ribery for France, both in their respective away kits. Collectors were able to directly purchase the redemption figures, which were priced at £5 and came in clear sachet with a non numbered collector card.

ProStars Series 39 was released in June 2008, with blisters priced at £3 each and Corinthian also made the series available in a case assortment, which contained all 12 blisters and 1 platinum pack, with the case assortment costing £36.

Along with the regular blister packs, Corinthian produced something special called the Platinum Pack, these were produced in much lower numbers and not available for direct sale, they were given away free for money spent with Corinthian Direct. The figures are identical to those in the standard blister but are on a Silver base and assigned a PP (Platinum Pack) collector code, which was the same code as the PRO version, with the figure then placed on a specially designed Platinum Pack blister card, coming with an individually numbered collector card with just 360 of each being produced.
