JAPAN MEMBERSHIP 2006

Corinthian continued it's association with Japanese distributor Foot Circle and brought out the Japan Collectors Club 2006 package.

The 2006 Japan membership package was also made available to UK collectors who joined the ProStars Collectors Club at Legends level. Club members had the opportunity to buy the Japan pack for just £33.50, with UK collectors able to purchase the set from the 3rd of April 2006.

​

There are 8 figures in the set, all of which were released in a window box and on a Gold base, coming with collector card.

​

 

There are 2 AC Milan figures in the set, which are Christian Vieri in home kit and Andriy Shevchenko in away kit. This was an all new sculpt of Vieri and for me is the best sculpt Corinthian ever produced of the player.

Inter Milan were represented by Luis Figo in Champions League home kit, with a brand new sculpt being in Fiorentina away kit, which was Luca Toni. This was the very first ProStars release of Toni, who would also be part of ProStars Series 33 Stars of the Season and also feature in the Italy 2006 World Cup Winners team pack.

The set contained to Japanese players, Shunsuke Nakamura in Celtic away kit and the perhaps less well known Atsushi Yanagisawa, who was in Messina away kit, with Yanagisawa also being in ProStars Series 32 but in Messina's home kit.

No Japan release would be complete without a Baggio, the sculpt was the same as featured in the 2005 Japan members set, however this time he was painted in Juventus 1994/95 away kit, which was the year Juventus completed a domestic league and cup double, the first time Juventus had won the Scudetto in 9 years.

 

 

Completing the set is Lionel Messi in Barcelona away kit, however it was originally planned to be Patrick Vieira in Juventus away kit, the one which would be in the ProStars Select 500 range (PRO1444) however for reasons I am unaware of, he was dropped and replaced by this superb Messi figure.

It will be of no surprise to read that the 2 most sought after and expensive of the set are of course Baggio and Messi, both can prove incredibly elusive but certainly worth taking the time to find and add to your collection.
