TIGER BEER

Corinthian figures popularity in the Far East was rapidly growing, so Corinthian teamed up with Premier Supporters, who were there distributor for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, to release a special edition set of 12 figures.

The promotion started in November 2000, with the figures been given away in Singapore by ordering 2 jugs of Tiger Beer or by winning a 'guess the score competition' on Saturdays to win 6 figures.

​

 

Corinthian did manage to acquire 500 sets, making them available to their collector club members at Gold and Platinum level from the 5th of January at a cost of £50 per full set.

​

 

The figures differed in appearance to regular ProStars, they were on a Dark Blue base which had Tiger Beer in Orange stamped at the back of the base, with the football being the same Dark Blue colour and having Tiger in Orange stamped on it, with their collector codes starting TBS. I could never make my mind up if the S from the TBS code stood for Special or Singapore.

They were released in single window boxes but no collector cards were produced. In addition to the 12 single window boxes, there were also 2 different 6 packs produced, now these 6 packs are insanely rare and I am unsure as to how they came into existence. I can only assume they were produced as perhaps display pieces to have behind the bars and restaurants to show customers the figures in the set.

The figures themselves were all repaints of previously released figures but still a very appealing set and obtaining them all in window box can be tricky, with the 6 packs all but impossible!
