CLUB GOLD
WORLD GREATS
UK MEMBERSHIP 2007

Corinthian chose their annual convention; which took place at Villa Park on the 2d June 2007, as the stage to release their new World Great set, which was only available by becoming a member of the ProStars Collector Club 2007/08.

There were 2 levels of membership for the ProStars Collectors Club 2007/08, the SuperStars level was free and available to join online, while the Legends level membership cost £30 for the year, with the membership coming with the 8 Club Gold World Greats figures.

We have an all new sculpt of Dutch maestro Dennis Bergkamp, and in my opinion this is by far the finest sculpt Corinthian created of him, with it also being used in ProStars Classics Series 1, with Bergkamp in Arsenal home kit. Gabriel Batistuta is in Argentina home kit, with the sculpt being the same as we saw in previous series, most notably Series 16.

Henrik Larsson got his 5th sculpt and it can be argued this is the finest of the all, it features his trademark dread lock hair style and he is painted in Sweden home kit. Corinthian would not release this sculpt of Larsson again.

Paul Breitner got his one and only Corinthian release, a very fine sculpt and one which has vastly increased in popularity, demand and indeed price over the years. This was often the case with figures only sculpted once but i feel what has contributed to it is the fact he played for Real Madrid, so he has a broader appeal and i dare say many will have been wanted for various re paints.

Jurgen Kohler is an all new sculpt, here in Germany home kit, his only other appearance as a Corinthian figure was back in the German Bundesliga Star Kickers range, in the kit of Borussia Dortmund, with both sculpts being drastically different.

The final 3 are all first time sculpts which Corinthian would never use again, they are Hans Krankl for Austria, Luigi Riva for Italy and Alain Giresse for France.

Rarity wise it is Breitner who leads the way and his figure seldom appears for sale and can command very good money, as can Bergkamp, Batistuta and Larsson. Production volume was scaled back for this membership set so it is by far the most scarce of the UK sets.

All 8 were released inside a Club Gold World Greats window box, on a Gold base and coming with collector card.
