FA CUP WINNERS 2004/05

The 2005 FA Cup final took place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff; Wales, on the 21st May 2005, with two bitter rivals facing off, as Arsenal took on Manchester United.

120 minutes of football could not separate the sides, so the game went to penalties with the shootout ending 5-4 to Arsenal, with Paul Scholes being the only player to miss his spot kick.

 

 

5th December 2005 saw Corinthian release the Arsenal FA Cup Winners 2004/05 pack, which features 6 figures in the Arsenal 2004/05 kit. The 6 chosen are goal keeper Jens Lehmann and the 5 penalty kick takers, Robin Van Persie, Ashley Cole, Lauren, Fredrik Ljungberg and Patrick Vieira, with the pack having an original retail price of £20.

 

 

Cole, Van Persie, Ljungberg & Vieira had of course been released by Corinthian previously however this was the very first ProStars release of Jens Lehmann and Lauren. As it would transpire, this would prove to be the only ProStars release of the German keeper Lehmann, Lauren would receive another release, however that would be in the Fan Favourites range, as part of the Arsenal team pack, so this would be the only regular Prostars figure of Lauren.

 

 

The highlight  of the pack was not a figure, but the mini replica FA Cup Trophy! The inclusion of the replica trophy certainly added a touch of class to the pack and broadened the packs appeal to even more collectors. The mini replica FA Cup trophy was not assigned a collector code.

 

 

The pack would prove to be an instant collector's item and a pack which has always remained in high demand and appreciated in value, due in part to the fact it contains the only ProStars figures of Lehmann and Lauren and the fact it comes with the min replica FA Cup trophy.

 

 

 

Corinthian produced 2005 packs, each one came with the 6 figures, 6 collector cards and the mini replica FA Cup trophy. There was sadly no certificate of authenticity and no Platinum Packs were produced for this release,  which i felt was a missed opportunity and i personally would have loved to have seen a mini replica FA Cup trophy as a Platinum Pack.
