MIDDLESBROUGH LEAGUE CUP WINNERS CELEBRATION TEAM PACK

Corinthian launched a new range of figures under the banner of 'ProStars Fan Favourites' which have the figures in 'photographic line up' poses. 6 of the figures are stood up with arms behind their backs, 3 are crouched down, 1 is knelt to the right, 1 knelt to the left and the final one is the team captain who is crouched down with the football at his feet.

The figures are the same size as regular ProStars however they are a 2 piece mould which have turning heads, are a little lighter than regular ProStars and on a brighter Green base with the player name printed on. The range carried it's own collector codes, starting with FF (Fan Favourites).

Due to a clerical error, Corinthian never asked the factory to produce the collector cards for the set, so sadly there was never any made to accompany the figures.

​

 

The Middlesbrough team pack was released on the 16th August 2004 and features all 11 players who played in the 2004 Carling Cup final at Wembley against Bolton Wanderers, and also including manager Steve McClaren

​

 

For the long term collector this was a super team pack as it featured so many new sculpts and ones which would never again be released by Corinthian. Gareth Southgate, Ugo Ehiogu, Danny Mills, Juninho and Gaizka Mendieta had all been released by Corinthian before, with keeper Mark Schwarzer only ever been done as a MicroStars figure, this team pack figure is his one and only ProStars figure.

The other 6 in the pack were all first time sculpts and they would never again be released by Corinthian, which are Doriva, George Boateng, Boudewijn Zenden, Joseph-Desire Job, Franck Queudrue and manager Steve McClaren.

The pack has always been a highly sought after pack and for me it sits alongside the Manchester United 1968 set in terms of rarity and demand and as wirth Busby in the United pack, it is manager McClaren which is the most searched for figure from the Boro pack.
