RAMOS RUY SPECIAL EDITION
Ramos Ruy is perhaps a name not too familiar to football fans outside of Japan, however in Japan he is held in the highest regard, earning legends status and is very much an icon of Japanese football. Ruy was born in Brazil but he spent his entire playing career in the Japan J-League and earned Japanese citizenship, which allowed him to play for the Japan national team.
Due to his immense popularity in Japan, Corinthians Japanese distributor requested a special set of 4 Ramos Ruy figures to be created. Ramos Ruy was done in Japan 1993/94 home and away kit and also in the 1993-95 home kits of Verdy Kawasaki, where Ruy spent the vast majority of his playing career.
It was never disclosed how many of each figure were made, the collector cards were not individually numbered, with the reverse of the collector card containing career highlights for Ruy.
Corinthian did obtain very limited stock of the blisters, making them available at the 2004 Covention to collector club members at Gold and Platinum level, with the blister being priced at £10 each. All 4 are still obtainable and inexpensive.
The figures were released as single blister packs, no Platinum Packs were produced.
